Sustainability

Sustainability is of paramount importance throughout the entire animal park. Since its construction in 2005, the entire estate has been gas free. During this time, 32 hectares of agricultural land were converted into a forest (+/- 110,000 trees). All buildings are heated geothermally and the roofs have had solar panels since 2022. The wooden buildings are built with sustainable wood with high insulation standards. The vehicles are also largely electric.

Waste is separated throughout the park. Special waste bins were made with images of animals suffering from litter/plastic soup. This makes visitors aware and more motivated to throw their waste in the right bin. This idea came about through a great collaboration with Regius College in Schagen.
